If you haven’t already heard, the Apple Watch was officially released a few days ago and there is a lot happening! This is an update on everything regarding its reception, and some predictions on what is to come next…
Apple Watch 411
On the night of April 10th, several Apple fans stayed past midnight to be attempt to be the first to pre-order an Apple watch. On Friday April 24th, the Apple Watches finally started shipping.
An estimated One Million pre-orders took place in the United States during the first six hours of pre-ordering. Any preorder after the initial six hours will be shipping in June at the earliest.
Many buyers are receiving their new device as we speak, while others have yet been assigned a shipping date.
Apple has yet to announce any official numbers on their sales.
Smart Watch Usage and Consumer Reception
The main concern many people were worried about was the expected batter life of the new wearable, but there have been many positive experiences regarding battery life. Regular usage should provide enough battery for one day, but it will require charging every night.
A new problem has arisen. The battery life of the phone paired with an apple watch will suffer. Being connected via Bluetooth all day is an energy vampire… sucking the life from your iPhone 5 and especially the iPhone 6.
Apple is most likely developing patches to remedy this ailment as we speak.
But I Want an Apple Watch NOW!
While we definitely believe that patience is a virtue, there are a couple of ways to get your hands on an Apple Watch (other than playing with one at the Apple Store!).
To be blunt, the quickest way to get to get your hands on an Apple watch is by spending a lot of money. On eBay the Apple Watch Sport (that is priced at $349 on Apple’s official website) is selling for higher than $700 on eBay! If you truly cannot wait a couple of months to own your own Apple Watch, this is the way to go.
Rent it on Lumoid
Remember Blockbuster?“Try it before you buy it”. (Well neither do we). Lumoid is offering users to rent an Apple Watch before buying it! Unlike eBay, this option does not require you spend a ton of money! For $45 you are able to rent an Apple Watch Sport and $55 for an Apple Watch Steele for up to 5 weeks. Lumoid will begin renting out the Apple Watch in May. They will have a limited amount of units, so you will be put on a waiting list.
