On the morning of September 21, 2015 Skype users around the world experienced problems with the popular messaging application.
Core features of Microsoft’s Skype began to glitch and prevented users from making voice calls. All contacts were viewed as “offline” despite being logged in.
A number of messages and group chats were not being delivered.
Many users took out their frustration on social media and #SkypeDown became viral as a result of their venting.
Skype is Back Up
Skype has been able to restore and reconnect users, and the features are now beginning to function once again. A Networking Error has been the cause of this outage.
“We have identified the network issue which prevented users from logging in and using Skype today. We’re in the process of reconnecting our users, and focused on restoring full service. The issue did not affect Skype for Business users.
[UPDATE September 21 2015 23:53 GMT] Skype services have been fully restored”
