Facebook.com showed an error message to users around 9:30am PST (12:30pm EST) this morning. Some saw a generic “Service Unavailable” error, but most saw a “Sorry, something went wrong.” message followed by “We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
There is currently no comment from Facebook explaining the reason for the social media’s down time, but the outage only lasted 10 to 15 minutes for most users. Some people are still experiencing problems according to the user reports on isitdownrightnow.com, but it does seem to be up and running for the majority of the population.
The Northeastern United States and Western Europe seem to have experience the brunt of the outage, according to downdetector.com, which monitors up time of major apps and websites
Facebook Users Vent on Twitter
As with any major, worldwide occurance, the wittiest of the witty express themselves on Twitter. The outage occurred just as East coast users began their lunch breaks.
